DNAとIT
生き物の情報が入っているDNA。今更、説明するまでもないが、
塩基配列で情報が刻み込まれ、その情報に基いてタンパク質が
作られ生物として成長していく。
最先端の遺伝子学の研究では、どうやらDNAには、性格や病気、
寿命までもがプログラムされているという。このDNAとITについて、
先日、旧来の知人とバカ話をしながら語り合った内容について
書いてみよう。
ヒトのDNAは、情報にすると２の３２乗よりちょっと少ない程度
らしい。つまり、約４GBと言える。ここで、身の回りにあるものを
見ると、DVDの１層のものが4.7GBであり、つまりは、DVD１枚に一人
の人間の遺伝子情報がすべて入ってしまうのである。少し眩暈が
しそうな話である。SFのような話になってしまうが、DVD１枚の情報で、
あなたと同じDNAを持つ人間が作られてしまうのだ。
（もっとも、クローン技術は、情報があればできるといった単純な
ものではないが、理論的には可能である）
認証技術で、DNA鑑定とか言われているが、この事実を知ったとき、
果たして、どこまでそれが有効なのか疑問になってしまう。今でこそ、
DVDであるが、これからの技術革新の中では、メモリカードもすぐに
何十GBもの容量を持つものがすぐに出てくるだろう。そうなると、
DNA鑑定において、データを差し替えることなど簡単にできてしまう、
あるいは、DNAによる認証データの改ざん、盗み出しなど、簡単に
できてしまう。
昨今、個人情報の流出が社会問題になっているが、DNA情報の流出
などしたら、とんでもないことになるだろう。その盗み出された情報を
使って、いろいろなコンピュータにアクセスして、あなたに成りすます
ことは、簡単にできてしまう。
クローン技術で再生などしなくても、センサーで読み取った後のデータ
としては、単なるゼロ・イチの情報でしかないので、その部分で盗み
出した情報を送り込めば、センサーから送られた情報なのか、区別する
ことなどできない。これは、とんでもないことである。
現在のセキュリティでは、暗証番号や、ICカードを盗まれて他人が
使ったということも証明できるだろうが、DNA情報の場合は、かなり
難しいのではないだろうか？ なぜなら、情報としては、”あなた
そのもの”なのだからである。
なんだかSF映画の中のような話ではあるのだが、これは、すぐそこ
まで迫っている状況である。そして、DNA情報は、あなたの落とした
髪の毛や、使った割り箸の唾液など、至る所に落として回るのである。
散髪屋など気軽に行けなくなるし、外食先では、割り箸を持って帰り、
コップは口をつけずに、持参したストローで飲み、そして、髪の毛が
落ちないように水泳の帽子のようなものをずっとつけている....
そして、ゴミなどうかつに捨てられないという世の中になってしまう
のだろうか？
ITの進歩で、なんでもかんでもデジタル情報に置き換えて処理する
ことを考えてしまうと、こういう世界が待っていることも頭の片隅に
置いておくことも必要だろう。
