被害者が加害者になってしまう世界
ここ数年はコンピュータウィルスの莫大な被害という文字が
新聞紙面に踊ることが多くなってきている。特にマイクロソフト
のウィンドウズのセキュリティー・ホール（要はプログラムの
設計ミス等による不具合）を逆手に利用して入り込んでくるウィ
ルスが多い。読者の中にも実際にコンピュータウィルスが添付
されたメールを受け取ったとか、不幸にもウィルスに感染して
しまって、パソコンが使えなくなったという人もいるかもしれ
ない。
厳しい言い方をすると、不幸にもウィルスに感染して、データ
が消えてしまったとか、パソコンが動かなくなってしまったと
いうのは、これだけマスコミ等でも情報が流れており、さらに、
プロバイダーが事前にメールのウィルチェックサービスをやって
いたり、ウィルスを検地して削除してくれるワクチンソフトを
インストールしていないという自業自得ということができるかも
しれない。いわゆる”自己責任”の世界なのである。
ここまでなら、”被害者”ということで、自分の責任でもある
ので、”あーあっ”という状態で終わるのであるが、ここだけで
終わらないのがＩＴの世界の怖さである。最近のコンピュータ
ウィルスは、感染すると、ネットワークを介して他のパソコンへ
広まっていくという問題がある。つまり、”被害者”であると
同時に、”加害者”になってしまうのだ。
実際に筆者のところにも知人からウィルス添付のメールが届く
ことがあるが、その知人に連絡すると、本人は感染したという自覚
がないので、非常に恐ろしい。何度か社会的にも問題になったこと
があるが、企業が会員向のメールマガジンにウィルス添付したもの
を配信してしまったといった場合、当然ながらその企業の責任が
問われてしまう。今のところ、個人に対して責任追及ということは
起きていないようだが、今後、ますます巧妙に、そして、悪質に
なっていくコンピュータウィルスにおいては、個人が”加害者”と
して企業あるいは個人に訴えられるというようなこともありうるかも
しれない。下手をすると、その訴えてくる相手は、日本国内ではなく、
遥か遠くの海外の政府かもしれないのである。なにせインターネット
を介せば瞬きをしている間に地球の裏側まで届いてしまうのだから。
あのＳＡＲＳ騒ぎで、ＳＡＲＳ感染した台湾の医師が日本観光を
したことで国際問題にまで広がったことを思い浮かべていただければ
分かるが、コンピュータウィルスに感染するということは、あの台湾
の医師のように他の人のＰＣを感染させる状態になっているという
ことなのである。そう考えると、ぞっとするような怖さを感じない
だろうか？ コンピュータウィルスを他人事のように甘く考えては
いけない。
