いよいよ本格的になってきた情報ビジネス
筆者の偏りもあるかもしれないが、情報を売るビジネスがすごく
広まっているように思える。確かに、情報を売るビジネスは、昔から
あったのだが、情報というよりも、データといった商売が多かった。
厳密に分けるのは難しいが、例えば、顧客名簿とか、企業情報などは、
データである。もっと分かりやすい例は、電話帳である。
これらのデータを売るというビジネスは存在していたのだが、
情報＝インフォメーションに相当する情報を販売するものが多くなって
きている。今回は、これについて考えてみたい。
インフォメーションを説明するのも、なかなか面倒なのだが、一言で
片付ければ、”ノウハウ”ということになる。この手の情報は、従来は、
書籍という形で、出版社から出されたものを購入するという形態が一般的
であり、少し高額なものでは、セミナーを受講するという情報の入手方法
になっていた。
しかし、インターネットが普及し、また、PDFのような電子媒体が簡単に
扱えるようになってきたこと、音声や動画といったものをCDに焼くことも
普通のパソコンでできるようになったことで、”紙媒体の書籍”以外の
情報提供が急増している。
まったく無名の人が、ノウハウをしゃべってCDに焼いて販売していたり、
数十ページのPDFファイルでのテキストとして提供していたりするのだ。
このようなものを従来の流通に乗せようとしても、素人では、どこから
手を着けたらいいのか検討もつかないし、出版社に持っていっても、
出版業界では、ビジネス関連の書籍であれば、5,000部程度は売れる見込み
がないと、出版してくれない。しかも、すくなくとも、200ページぐらいは
ないと本にならない。
ところが、インターネットが出てきたことで、十数ページでも配布可能
であり、また、一部500円で販売しても、個人でやっているなら、1000部
売れるだけで50万円の売り上げにつながる。しかも、そこに掛かる原価など
しれているから、利益率も恐ろしく高い。
また、これは、個人のレベルだけでなく、大手企業の商品販売やサービス
についても同じような傾向になってきているようだ。PDFで、ちょっとお得な
情報を提供したり、商品の細かな説明を提供することで、顧客を引き込もうと
している。
従来の紙媒体でパンフレットや冊子を作るとなると、安くても数十万、
下手すると数百万といったコストが掛かっていた。さらに郵送代も考えると、
バカにならない金額になっていた。しかし、電子媒体にすれば、在庫がなく
なるなどということはないし、インターネットを使うことで、配送費用も
限りなく0円に近い。CDにしても自分たちで焼くなら、数十円で出来てしまう。
こんな便利な情報流通は、今まではなかっただろう。まずは、顧客に喜んで
もらえる情報を提供し、そこから、ビジネスへつなげるということを考え、
そして、トライ＆エラーで実験的に行うことも可能であり、何よりも、すぐに
始めることができるのが大きい。これをうまく活用しない手はないだろう。
ただ、間違わないで欲しいのは、内容が肝心なのは、紙媒体と同じである。
