教えたくないメールアドレス
筆者が個人のドメインを取得して、個人のメールアドレスを持ち
始めたのは、もう10年近く前になる。そのころは、メールアドレスを
覚えてもらうために、いろいろな人に知らせていた。ところが、
最近は、個人情報保護法なども出てきたように、メールアドレスを
教えることで、トラブルに巻き込まれていくことも出てきてる。
特に携帯電話メールには、多くの「迷惑メール」が流れ込んできている。
小学生までもが携帯電話を持っているので、アダルトサイトの紹介や
出会い系の紹介なども出てきており、東京都では、中学生以下の
性交渉を禁止する条例も検討しているという。
一体、何がおきてきたのだろうか？ 教えるためのメールアドレスが、
教えたくないメールアドレスになってきたことについて考えてみよう。
インターネットが広がる前のパソコン通信の時代には、まだまだ、
世間一般には、パソコンが趣味とかパソコン通信が趣味だと言うと、
『根暗』、『危ない人』といったレッテルも貼られるような時代が
あった。今から考えると、信じられないことである。この頃は、自分の
IDを教えたり、また、パソコン通信の中では、IDが自動的に表示される
ので、個別のメールを送るなどできるのは、当たり前だった。
その後、インターネットが広まってきて、掲示板などでは、敢えて
メールアドレスを入れないと、相手には伝わらない状況になってきた。
そこで、シグネチャーという署名を入れて自分のメールアドレスとかを
明記するようになってきた。この頃になると、パソコンを使っている
とか、インターネットを使っていると、”使えるの？ 教えて！”と
いわれるようになってきた。それまでと１８０度の変化である。個人で
ドメインを取って、ホームページを作っているだけで、”すごい！”と
言われた時代である。また、名刺にも、メールアドレスを入れているのが、
ステータスのような扱いになりつつあった。
さて、ITバブルもはじけ、携帯電話メールも使えるようになり、無料の
メールアドレスや、無料のホームページとかも出てきて、本名を明かさ
なくても、住所なども書かなくてもメールが使える世の中になって
しまった。
そうなってくると、多くの人がメールアドレスを持つようになり、
一人でいくつものメールアドレスを持っているようになった。そして、
それによって、広告メールもどんどん増えていき、最近では、ニセモノの
督促状や、請求書までがメールで来るようになり、詐欺事件にまで
なってきた。そうなってくると、メールアドレスを教えたがらない人が
増えてきた。そう、まるで、携帯電話番号のように。
通信関連の技術は、利用者が増えるほど、また、便利になるほど、
相手を特定しにくくなってくるので、それを悪用しようとする連中が
出てくる。その結果、個人を特定できるメールアドレスのような情報を
教えたがらないようになってくるのだ。
個人情報保護法でも、いろいろ議論になっているのだが、メール
アドレスが個人を特定できる情報かどうかの議論がある。つまり、
単なる英数字の組み合わせに過ぎないという意見と、その一方で、
名前をそのままメールアドレスにしている場合は、個人を特定できて
しまうという意見もある。
いやはや、なかなか面倒な時代になったものだ。
