チェンジニアに惑わされない
先日、あるところで話をしていて、なんでもかんでもパーツ化されて
しまって、エンジニアが本来の仕事をしていないという話をしていた。
故障しても、パーツ交換をして修理するので、単に部品交換の作業、
そう、チェンジするだけの『チェンジニア』になってしまっているのだ。
なかなか面白い表現だなと感心したのだが、IT業界でもチェンジニアが
はびこっている。そんなチェンジニアの話を考えてみたい。
IT業界では、次々といろんなコンセプトが登場して、『最新の○○
システム』、『先端を行く△△ソリューション』といった言葉が数カ月
おきに登場する。そして、そこで言われることは、『今までのシステム
では、新しいビジネスには遅れをとってしまいます。今すぐ、最新の
システムに入れ替えましょう！』。チェンジニアの独壇場である。
筆者はITという言葉が出てくる前からコンピュータに関わってきた
ので、コンピュータの基本が変わっていない（あくまで０と１の世界）
ので、どうみても新しいシステムには、見えないことが多い。今までの
仕組みの見せ方を変えただけで、どうってことないって思ってしまう。
しかし、多くの人たちは、そのグラフィカルな表現や、瞬時に結果が
出てくるデモンストレーションを見ると、”すごい！”と圧倒されて
しまうだろう。そして、今、自社で使っている仕組みが古い旧世代の
ものに見えてしまう。さらに、追い討ちをかけるように、『ITの世界は
ドッグイヤーと言われるように、７倍の速度で進んでいます。ですから、
１年もすると、他の業界では、１０年近くの遅れとなるのですよ』と
言われてしまうと、そんなものかと納得してしまうのではないだろうか？
確かに、処理速度や通信速度は、恐ろしく速くなった。しかし、
だからといって、ビジネスの本質が変化していないし、コンピュータの
本質も変化していない。ましてや、お客さんからお金を貰わないと
ビジネスが成立しないのは、ぜんぜん変わっていないのである。
ITのメーカは、どうしても新製品を売っていかないとビジネスが
成り立たないこともあって、チェンジニアが、システム入れ替えを声高に
叫ぶ。ちょっと、そこで、本当に必要なのかどうか、チェンジニアに
惑わされていないか、今一度、冷静になって考えて欲しい。
（こんなことを書くと、同業からは睨まれるのだが.. 笑）
